     REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON EDUCATION, APRIL 30, 2025


                                    AN ACT
 1   Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
 2      act relating to the public school system, including certain
 3      provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
 4      schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
 5      laws relating thereto," in duties and powers of boards of
 6      school directors, further providing for school athletics,
 7      publications, and organizations.
 8      The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
 9   hereby enacts as follows:
10      Section 1.    Section 511 of the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30,
11   No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, is amended by
12   adding a subsection to read:
13      Section 511.    School Athletics, Publications, and
14   Organizations.--

16      (b.2)   A school district in which a private school student is
17   a resident shall permit the student to participate in any
18   extracurricular activity that the school district offers if the
19   student is able to fulfill all of the requirements of
20   participation associated with the extracurricular activity and
1   the private school that the student attends does not offer the
2   same extracurricular activity.

4      Section 2.   This act shall take effect in 60 days.
