                                     AN ACT
 1   Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
 2      act relating to the public school system, including certain
 3      provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
 4      schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
 5      laws relating thereto," in Student Teacher Support Grant
 6      Program, further providing for program establishment and
 7      duties of agency.
 8      The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
 9   hereby enacts as follows:
10      Section 1.     Section 1203-B(e) of the act of March 10, 1949
11   (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, is
12   amended by adding a paragraph to read:
13   Section 1203-B.     Program establishment and duties of agency.

15      (e)   Grant amount.--

17            (2.1)   An eligible student teacher who completes required
18      student teaching in a school entity in a subject shortage
19      area in this Commonwealth shall, in addition to the amount
20      awarded under paragraph (1), receive a minimum grant amount
1     of $5,000. The agency, in consultation with the department,
2     shall utilize data from the department to determine the
3     subject shortage areas.

5     Section 2.    This act shall take effect in 60 days.
