REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON STATE GOVERNMENT, JANUARY 27, 2025

                                    AN ACT
 1 Amending the act of June 13, 1907 (P.L.560, No.373), entitled
2 "An act designating the official flag of the Commonwealth of
3 Pennsylvania, and describing the same; providing for the
4 carrying of such flag by the regiments of the National Guard
5 of Pennsylvania; authorizing the Secretary of the
6 Commonwealth to provide, and have deposited in the office of
7 Secretary of the Commonwealth, a model of said flag, and
8 making an appropriation therefor," further providing for
9 title of act; and providing for the proper procedure to fold
10 the designated flag of the Commonwealth.
11 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
12 hereby enacts as follows:
13 Section 1. The title of the act of June 13, 1907 (P.L.560,
14 No.373), entitled "An act designating the official flag of the
15 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and describing the same; providing
16 for the carrying of such flag by the regiments of the National
17 Guard of Pennsylvania; authorizing the Secretary of the
18 Commonwealth to provide, and have deposited in the office of
19 Secretary of the Commonwealth, a model of said flag, and making
20 an appropriation therefor," is amended to read:
21 AN ACT
1 Designating the official flag of the Commonwealth of
2 Pennsylvania, and describing the same; providing for the
3 carrying of such flag by the regiments of the National Guard
4 of Pennsylvania; authorizing the Secretary of the
5 Commonwealth to provide, and have deposited in the office of
6 Secretary of the Commonwealth, a model of said flag,
7 providing for the proper procedure to fold the flag, and
 8 making an appropriation therefor.
9 Section 2. The act is amended by adding a section to read:
10 Section 3.1. The following procedures constitute the proper
11 way to fold the flag for presentation or display:
12 (1) Fold the flag four times lengthwise so that one section
13 displays the Commonwealth crest.
14 (2) Fold each side behind the displayed section at a ninety-
15 degree angle so that the display section forms a triangle.
16 (3) Take the section ending with the hoist and fold it at a
17 ninety-degree angle across the bottom of the display section and
18 then fold the hoist back over so it is aligned with the middle
19 of the display section.
20 (4) Fold the other protruding section directly upwards so
21 that its edge is flush with the display section and then fold it
22 upwards along a forty-five-degree angle so that a mirror of the
23 display section triangle is formed.
24 (5) Fold the mirror section in half from the point upwards,
25 then fold the remaining portion upwards, tucking it between the
26 display section and the remainder of the flag.
27 Section 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
