AN ACT
1 Amending the act of May 3, 1933 (P.L.242, No.86), entitled "An
2 act to promote the public health and safety by providing for
3 examination, licensing and granting of permits for those who
4 desire to engage in the profession of cosmetology; defining
5 cosmetology, and regulating cosmetology salons, schools,
6 students, apprentices, teachers, managers, manicurists and
7 cosmetologists; conferring powers and duties upon the
8 Commissioner of Professional and Occupational Affairs of the
9 Department of State; providing for appeals to certain courts
10 by applicants and licensees; and providing penalties,"
11 providing for change of cosmetology salon location.
12 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
13 hereby enacts as follows:
14 Section 1. The act of May 3, 1933 (P.L.242, No.86), referred
15 to as the Cosmetology Law, is amended by adding a section to
16 read:
17 Section 4.5. Change of Cosmetology Salon Location.--(a) The
18 board shall immediately approve an application for a change of a
19 salon location submitted by a cosmetology salon that holds an
20 existing salon license and has not been found by the board to
21 have committed a violation of the provisions of this act if the
22 salon owner provides the following information to the board:
1 (1) A sketch plan showing the layout of the new location of
2 the salon, including the position of the doors, windows,
3 partitions, shampoo basins, lavatories, adjustable chairs and
4 other floor equipment.
5 (2) The name and license number of the person who will be
6 the designated person in charge of the salon in the owner's
7 absence.
8 (b) A bureau inspector shall perform an inspection of a new
9 salon location for compliance with facility requirements within
10 ten days of the board's approval of an application under
11 subsection (a).
12 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
