AN ACT
1 Amending Title 35 (Health and Safety) of the Pennsylvania
2 Consolidated Statutes, in Commonwealth services, further
3 providing for Pennsylvania State Fire Academy.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Section 7384 of Title 35 of the Pennsylvania
7 Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a subsection to read:
8 § 7384. Pennsylvania State Fire Academy.

10 (d.1) Religious exemption.--An individual seeking
11 firefighter certification shall be granted a religious exemption
12 towards each training standard established under subsection (d)
13 if the individual's religion prevents them from shaving or
14 trimming their beard. The religious exemption shall only apply
15 if the individual is able to pass a fit test to adequately seal
16 a self-contained breathing apparatus mask on the individual's
17 face with the seal meeting the standards set by the State Fire
1 Commissioner under the Statewide firefighter training program.

3 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
