A RESOLUTION
1 Recognizing the week of March 10 through 14, 2025, as "Civic
2 Learning Week" in Pennsylvania.
3 WHEREAS, A well-informed and engaged citizenry are essential
4 to sustaining a healthy democracy; and
5 WHEREAS, After local observances in Massachusetts, Rhode
6 Island and New York in 2022, "Civic Learning Week" became a
7 national observance in 2023; and
8 WHEREAS, "Civic Learning Week" is observed across the nation
9 annually as a week designed to highlight the knowledge, skills
10 and dispositions that provide the foundation for an informed and
11 engaged citizenry, and to call for individual, local, state and
12 national action to prioritize civic education; and
13 WHEREAS, It is essential that each new generation is equipped
14 to engage in our democracy for our civic strength, our economy,
15 our national security and more; and
16 WHEREAS, Civic education is vital to the preservation and
17 improvement of the constitutional government of the United
1 States; and
2 WHEREAS, This year's "Civic Learning Week" theme, "Making
3 civic learning a nationwide priority for a stronger democracy,"
4 is a worthwhile goal for the people and learning institutions of
5 this Commonwealth; therefore be it
6 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
7 week of March 10 through 14, 2025, as "Civic Learning Week" in
8 Pennsylvania; and be it further
9 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
10 vital role civic education plays in preparing the next
11 generation for democratic engagement.
