A RESOLUTION
1 Recognizing the week of May 18 through 24, 2025, as "National
2 Public Works Week" in Pennsylvania.
3 WHEREAS, Public works professionals focus on infrastructure,
4 facilities and services that are of vital importance to
5 sustainable and resilient communities and to the public health,
6 high quality of life and well-being of the residents of this
7 Commonwealth; and
8 WHEREAS, Infrastructure, facilities and services could not be
9 provided without the dedicated efforts of public works
10 professionals who are engineers, managers and employees at all
11 levels of government and the private sector; and
12 WHEREAS, Public works professionals are responsible for
13 rebuilding, improving and protecting our nation's
14 transportation, water supply, water treatment and solid waste
15 systems, public buildings and other structures and facilities
16 essential for our citizens; and
17 WHEREAS, It is in the public interest for the residents,
18 civic leaders and children in this Commonwealth to gain
1 knowledge of and maintain an ongoing interest and understanding
2 of the importance of public works and public works programs in
3 their respective communities; and
4 WHEREAS, The year 2025 marks the 65th annual "National Public
5 Works Week" sponsored by the American Public Works Association
6 and the Canadian Public Works Association; and
7 WHEREAS, The theme for "National Public Works Week" in 2025
8 is "People, Purpose, Presence," highlighting the ideals that
9 motivate public works professionals to serve their communities;
10 therefore be it
11 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
12 week of May 18 through 24, 2025, as "National Public Works Week"
13 in Pennsylvania; and be it further
14 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge all
15 residents to join with representatives of the American Public
16 Works Association and government agencies in activities, events
17 and ceremonies designed to pay tribute to our public works
18 professionals, engineers, managers and employees; and be it
19 further
20 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
21 substantial contributions that public works professionals make
22 to protecting our national health and safety and advancing
23 quality of life for all.
