     INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
        JUNE 20, 2025


                               A RESOLUTION
 1   Mourning the loss of the Honorable Matthew R. Gergely of
 2      McKeesport, Allegheny County, respected member of the House
 3      of Representatives from the 35th District, who died January
 4      19, 2025, at 45 years of age.
 5      WHEREAS, The House of Representatives commends Representative
 6   Gergely's distinguished service to the General Assembly from
 7   February 21, 2023, through January 19, 2025; and
 8      WHEREAS, The House of Representatives commends Representative
 9   Gergely's important contributions to the Mon Valley and the
10   Allegheny County delegation; and
11      WHEREAS, A former McKeesport Area School District business
12   manager and McKeesport city administrator and chief revenue
13   officer, Representative Gergely won the House of
14   Representatives' special election on February 7, 2023; and
15      WHEREAS, Representative Gergely was reelected to the House on
16   November 5, 2024; and
17      WHEREAS, Representative Gergely's committee assignments
18   included the Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure
19   Committee, Game and Fisheries Committee, Insurance Committee and
 1   Liquor Control Committee; and
 2         WHEREAS, In April 2024, Representative Gergely's bill
 3   amending The Clinical Laboratory Act to enhance plasma supply
 4   was enacted as Act 6 of 2024; and
 5         WHEREAS, In July 2024, Representative Gergely's Liquor Code
 6   bill providing flexibility for licensee hiring was enacted as
 7   Act 57 of 2024; and
 8         WHEREAS, To honor Representative Gergely, the Flag of
 9   Pennsylvania is flying at half-staff at public buildings until
10   his interment at McKeesport and Versailles Cemetery; and
11         WHEREAS, A graduate of McKeesport Area High School and
12   Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Representative Gergely was a
13   son of Sofia Lundberg Simile and the late Robert S. Gergely; and
14         WHEREAS, Representative Gergely's life's work in municipal
15   and State government reflected his ideals for public and
16   personal investment in health, safety, education and employment;
17   and
18         WHEREAS, Representative Gergely faithfully dedicated his
19   energies to solving problems and allocating resources for the
20   benefit of residents of his native McKeesport and western
21   Pennsylvania; and
22         WHEREAS, At his legislative offices in Harrisburg,
23   McKeesport, Clairton and Munhall, Representative Gergely
24   improved their lives through his focus on constituent services,
25   his notable fairness and his easy friendships; and
26         WHEREAS, Representative Gergely's pride and care for his
27   wife, Holly Warren Gergely, and their young sons, Mason and
28   Jerrett, was central to this work; therefore be it
29         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives mourn the loss of
30   the Honorable Matthew R. Gergely of McKeesport, Allegheny

4      RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
