     INTRODUCED BY MATZIE, MAYES, FREEMAN, HOHENSTEIN, WAXMAN,
        RIVERA, MERSKI, HILL-EVANS, PARKER, GALLAGHER, HADDOCK,
        SANCHEZ, NEILSON, GREINER, PICKETT AND DELOZIER,
        SEPTEMBER 3, 2025

     REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON COMMERCE, SEPTEMBER 4, 2025


                               A RESOLUTION
 1   Designating the week of October 12 through 18, 2025, as "Credit
 2      Union Week" in Pennsylvania.
 3      WHEREAS, Credit unions are individual, independent financial
 4   cooperatives founded by individuals working to achieve economic
 5   advancement with individuals seeking to improve their financial
 6   future; and
 7      WHEREAS, Pennsylvania and New Jersey have nearly 500 credit
 8   unions, serving approximately 5.5 million members; and
 9      WHEREAS, Founded on the philosophy of "not for profit, not
10   for charity, but for service," credit unions maintain a focus on
11   service to their members; and
12      WHEREAS, Pooling personal resources and leadership abilities
13   for the good of the cooperative, credit unions provide low-cost
14   financial services to their members; and
15      WHEREAS, These institutions strive to educate their members
16   to use credit wisely while encouraging the development of
17   savings programs; and
 1      WHEREAS, Acting as sponsors for activities to promote the
 2   charitable acts of their members, credit unions encourage
 3   community involvement and participation for the betterment of
 4   all; and
 5      WHEREAS, Through the efforts of volunteers organized by
 6   credit unions, many worthwhile causes have benefited throughout
 7   this Commonwealth; and
 8      WHEREAS, Credit unions are receiving worldwide recognition
 9   during the commemoration of the 77th anniversary of
10   "International Credit Union Day" on October 16; therefore be it
11      RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
12   week of October 12 through 18, 2025, as "Credit Union Week" in
13   Pennsylvania; and be it further
14      RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
15   the CrossState Credit Union Association, 4309 North Front
16   Street, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
