A RESOLUTION
1 Designating the month of October 2025 as "Wine, Wineries and
2 Grapes Month" in Pennsylvania.
3 WHEREAS, Pennsylvania growers produce many of the finest food
4 products available worldwide; and
5 WHEREAS, Today, the growth of Pennsylvania grapes occurs
6 thanks to the tireless efforts of generations of Pennsylvanians
7 who played instrumental roles in the founding of this nation's
8 great wine industry; and
9 WHEREAS, The nation's first commercial grapevine nursery
10 operated in Montgomery County in southeastern Pennsylvania; and
11 WHEREAS, With more than 300 wineries in this Commonwealth,
12 Pennsylvania ranks seventh in the nation for the number of
13 wineries and fourth for the amount of wine produced; and
14 WHEREAS, Our wineries, grapes and grape juice provide an
15 annual 1.5-billion-dollar economic impact to this Commonwealth;
16 and
1 WHEREAS, Since 2010, Commonwealth wineries boasted more than
2 100 award-winning entries in several national and international
3 wine competitions; and
4 WHEREAS, In light of the many successes, the Pennsylvania
5 Winery Association is proud to celebrate the industry during
6 October's "Pennsylvania Wine Month"; and
7 WHEREAS, This October, wine lovers can revel in the year's
8 bountiful harvest as many of the wineries and trails throughout
9 this Commonwealth are offering harvest events and celebrations;
10 therefore be it
11 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
12 month of October 2025 as "Wine, Wineries and Grapes Month" in
13 Pennsylvania; and be it further
14 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
15 significant and invaluable contributions made by the grape
16 industry and the wine industry to this Commonwealth's history,
17 economy and quality of life; and be it further
18 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives encourage the
19 residents of this Commonwealth to celebrate "Wine, Wineries and
20 Grapes Month" by enjoying the many grape products offered by
21 Pennsylvania growers and responsibly partaking in favored
22 Pennsylvania wine products, all while engaging in the
23 festivities and gaining awareness of the services and products
24 offered by Pennsylvania wineries throughout all seasons of the
25 year.
