     TO UNCONTESTED CALENDAR UNDER RULE 35 OCTOBER 27, 2025


                                  A RESOLUTION
 1   Noting with sadness the death of the Honorable Katherine "Katie"
 2      True, former eight-term member of the House of
 3      Representatives from Lancaster County, who died October 7,
 4      2025.
 5      WHEREAS, Katie True was born January 16, 1941, in Baltimore,
 6   Maryland, the daughter of George and Henriette Buck; and
 7      WHEREAS, Ms. True was a 1958 graduate of J.P. McCaskey High
 8   School, Lancaster County; and
 9      WHEREAS, In June 2024, Ms. True's husband, Peter True,
10   preceded her in death; and
11      WHEREAS, Six sons, 12 grandchildren and 11 great-
12   grandchildren survive her; and
13      WHEREAS, The House of Representatives extends its sincere
14   condolences to the True family; and
15      WHEREAS, The House of Representatives further commends Ms.
16   True's effectiveness as a public servant in the Commonwealth's
17   legislative and executive branches; and
18      WHEREAS, Ms. True first won election to the 37th District of
19   the House of Representatives in 1992; and
 1         WHEREAS, Her faithful service for the benefit of Lancaster
 2   County, the Lancaster Delegation and all residents of this
 3   Commonwealth continued through 2000; and
 4         WHEREAS, After an unsuccessful run for State Auditor General
 5   and a two-year term as Executive Director of the Pennsylvania
 6   Commission for Women, Ms. True returned to the General Assembly;
 7   and
 8         WHEREAS, Committed to accomplishing more as a legislator, Ms.
 9   True won election to the newly created 41st District seat in
10   2002; and
11         WHEREAS, Ms. True represented the 41st District with
12   distinction through 2010; and
13         WHEREAS, On June 20, 2011, Ms. True was confirmed by the
14   Senate as Commissioner of Professional and Occupational Affairs;
15   and
16         WHEREAS, In August 2013, Governor Corbett announced Ms.
17   True's selection as Secretary of Legislative Affairs; and
18         WHEREAS, "You get passionate about something and you jump
19   in," Ms. True said that year; and
20         WHEREAS, For Ms. True, this encompassed matters relating to
21   independent living, human trafficking, penalties and legal
22   substitute addresses relative to domestic abuse, adoption
23   consent, child protective services and substance abuse
24   prevention and recovery; and
25         WHEREAS, Ms. True is remembered as an experienced advocate, a
26   consensus builder and a compassionate, responsible leader among
27   peers; therefore be it
28         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives note with sadness
29   the death of the Honorable Katherine "Katie" True, former eight-
30   term member of the House of Representatives from Lancaster

2      RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
3   the True family.
