A RESOLUTION
1 Designating January 31, 2026, as "Heroes of the Northeast
2 Philadelphia Plane Crash Day" in Pennsylvania.
3 WHEREAS, On January 31, 2025, a medical jet carrying six
4 people crashed along Cottman Avenue in Philadelphia, near the
5 Roosevelt Mall, shortly after taking off from Northeast
6 Philadelphia Airport; and
7 WHEREAS, All six people on board and two people on the ground
8 died as a result of the crash; and
9 WHEREAS, At least 20 additional people were injured, with at
10 least four people requiring hospitalization; and
11 WHEREAS, The crash negatively impacted more than 340 homes,
12 including four homes that were destroyed, six homes that
13 sustained major damage and 11 homes that sustained other damage;
14 and
15 WHEREAS, In response to the crash and ensuing fire, an
16 immediate multiagency response was deployed to the scene by the
17 Philadelphia Fire Department, the Philadelphia Police
18 Department, the Office of Emergency Management, the Managing
1 Director's Office, PECO, Philadelphia Gas Works and other
2 Federal and State partners to assist victims, enforce a public
3 safety zone and bring the situation under control; and
4 WHEREAS, Police officers, firefighters, emergency medical
5 services personnel and hospital staff demonstrated extraordinary
6 courage and professionalism while residents of Northeast
7 Philadelphia also worked to aid their neighbors and emergency
8 personnel in the aftermath of the crash; and
9 WHEREAS, On the anniversary of this deadly crash, it is
10 fitting that the Commonwealth honor the valor and effort of all
11 those who came to the aid of their neighbors during this tragedy
12 and the memory of those who sadly passed away; therefore be it
13 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate January
14 31, 2026, as "Heroes of the Northeast Philadelphia Plane Crash
15 Day" in Pennsylvania; and be it further
16 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives offer its
17 appreciation for the police officers, firefighters, emergency
18 medical services personnel, hospital staff, public employees and
19 local residents who worked to help those affected by this
20 tragedy and to rebuild the Northeast Philadelphia community.
