     INTRODUCED BY KINKEAD, REICHARD, FREEMAN, KUTZ, ZIMMERMAN,
        COOPER, CONKLIN, COOK, GUZMAN, FLEMING, RIVERA AND HILL-
        EVANS, MARCH 13, 2026

     REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON AGRICULTURE AND RURAL AFFAIRS,

                                A RESOLUTION
 1   Designating the week of March 16 through 20, 2026, as
 2      "Pennsylvania Ag Literacy Week" in Pennsylvania.
 3      WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Friends of Agriculture Foundation
 4   was created in 1986 and pursues a mission to preserve and
 5   promote agriculture in this Commonwealth; and
 6      WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Friends of Agriculture Foundation
 7   and its sponsoring organization, the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau,
 8   are the originators of "Pennsylvania Ag Literacy Week"; and
 9      WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Friends of Agriculture Foundation's
10   mission includes the following:
11          (1)   enlightening the public about farming and
12      agriculture;
13          (2)   creating educational programs for children in
14      elementary and middle schools who may have no other exposure
15      to agriculture;
16          (3)   training teachers on agricultural commodities and
17      concepts while helping them meet their own continuing
 1         education requirements;
 2             (4)   funding scholarships for postsecondary agricultural
 3         studies; and
 4             (5)   promoting career opportunities in agriculture;
 5   and
 6         WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Friends of Agriculture Foundation
 7   continues to grow and enhance its innovative programs, including
 8   Educator's Ag Institute, Mobile Ag Education Science Lab
 9   Program, Mobile Ag Education on the Go Program and Positively 4
10   Kids! magazine; and
11         WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Friends of Agriculture Foundation
12   seeks to deliver these programs to schools and educators across
13   this Commonwealth; and
14         WHEREAS, "Pennsylvania Ag Literacy Week" focuses on
15   connecting volunteers from the agricultural community to local
16   classrooms to share the story of agriculture; and
17         WHEREAS, Volunteers will have an opportunity to talk about
18   farming and agriculture by reading the 2026 "Pennsylvania Ag
19   Literacy Week" book, as well as sharing their own stories of
20   farming, agriculture programs with which they are involved and
21   their connections to agriculture; and
22         WHEREAS, The 2026 "Pennsylvania Ag Literacy Week" book is
23   "Cows Can MOO! Can You? All About Farms" by Dr. Seuss; and
24         WHEREAS, Agriculture exists within every county in this
25   Commonwealth, with nearly 53,000 farms and 7.3 million acres of
26   farmland; and
27         WHEREAS, Agriculture is the largest of this Commonwealth's
28   industries, contributing $132.5 billion annually in economic
29   impact and supporting more than 593,000 jobs; therefore be it
30         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the

2   Week" in Pennsylvania; and be it further
3      RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives congratulate the
4   originators of "Pennsylvania Ag Literacy Week," the Pennsylvania
5   Friends of Agriculture Foundation and the Pennsylvania Farm
6   Bureau for their contribution to this Commonwealth's
7   agricultural industry.
