     INTRODUCED BY MALAGARI, FREEMAN, HOHENSTEIN, RIVERA, MADDEN,
        GALLAGHER, KHAN, CEPEDA-FREYTIZ, CERRATO, HANBIDGE AND DALEY,
        APRIL 28, 2026

     REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON TOURISM, RECREATION AND ECONOMIC
        DEVELOPMENT, APRIL 29, 2026


                               A RESOLUTION
 1   Designating September 25, 2026, as "Chuseok Day" in
 2      Pennsylvania.
 3      WHEREAS, Chuseok is South Korea's major annual harvest
 4   festival, a three-day celebration observed during the eighth
 5   month of the lunar calendar; and
 6      WHEREAS, Sometimes referred to as "Korean Thanksgiving,"
 7   Chuseok is a two-thousand-year-old tradition dedicated to
 8   honoring one's ancestors and showing appreciation for a
 9   successful harvest; and
10      WHEREAS, Festivities are marked by ritual offerings of fresh
11   food and drink at loved ones' graves, followed by sharing
12   stories and food, playing music and games and dancing, all to
13   celebrate nature's abundance; and
14      WHEREAS, The values reflected in Chuseok - family, gratitude,
15   unity and respect for nature - are embodied by Korean Americans
16   across the nation, enriching the cultural, economic and civic
17   fabric of the United States; and
 1         WHEREAS, Korean Americans have made and continue to make
 2   significant contributions in esteemed fields in this
 3   Commonwealth and across the country, including the fields of
 4   law, medicine, business, education, architecture and the arts;
 5   and
 6         WHEREAS, The Commonwealth recognized the service of Korean
 7   Americans in the Vietnam War through the enactment of the act of
 8   June 30, 2025 (P.L.17, No.10); and
 9         WHEREAS, The ongoing achievements and contributions of Korean
10   Americans continue to enhance the prosperity, cultural diversity
11   and communal well-being of this Commonwealth and the United
12   States; and
13         WHEREAS, In recognizing Chuseok, the Commonwealth
14   acknowledges and honors these contributions, as well as the
15   values Chuseok highlights, connecting with loved ones, nature
16   and one's heritage; therefore be it
17         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate
18   September 25, 2026, as "Chuseok Day" in Pennsylvania.
