A RESOLUTION
1 Designating June 1, 2026, as "Links Day" in Pennsylvania.
2 WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated was founded in 1946 by Sara
3 Strickland Scott and Margaret Hawkins in Philadelphia; and
4 WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated has evolved into one of the
5 nation's largest volunteer service organizations, with more than
6 17,000 members of African descent across 299 Chapters located in
7 41 states, the District of Columbia and the Bahamas, including
8 Pennsylvania's Bucks County Chapter, Delaware Valley Chapter,
9 Harrisburg Chapter, Montgomery County Chapter, Penn Towne
10 Chapter, Philadelphia Chapter and Pittsburgh Chapter; and
11 WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated members are extraordinary
12 women who are committed to the cultural and economic advancement
13 of African Americans and persons of African ancestry; and
14 WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated's core values are
15 friendship, integrity, honesty, service, commitment, family
16 relationships, courage, respect for self and others, legacy,
17 confidentiality, responsibility and accountability; and
1 WHEREAS, Links members contribute more than 950,000
2 documented hours of community service annually, strengthening
3 their communities and enhancing the nation; and
4 WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated is the recipient of awards
5 from the UN Association of New York and the Leon H. Sullivan
6 Foundation for its premier programs; and
7 WHEREAS, The outstanding programming of The Links,
8 Incorporated has five facets which include services to youth,
9 the arts, national trends and services, international trends and
10 services and health and human services; and
11 WHEREAS, The programs are implemented through strategies such
12 as public information and education, economic development and
13 public policy campaigns; and
14 WHEREAS, The members of The Links, Incorporated serve as
15 influential leaders and role models, shaping their communities
16 through advocacy, mentorship and collaboration; therefore be it
17 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate June 1,
18 2026, as "Links Day" in Pennsylvania; and be it further
19 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize and
20 honor the members of The Links, Incorporated's Bucks County
21 Chapter, Delaware Valley Chapter, Harrisburg Chapter, Montgomery
22 County Chapter, Penn Towne Chapter, Philadelphia Chapter and
23 Pittsburgh Chapter for their outstanding contributions to this
24 Commonwealth; and be it further
25 RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
26 The Links, Incorporated as a token of appreciation from the
27 members of the House of Representatives.
