                                     AN ACT
 1   Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
 2      act relating to the public school system, including certain
 3      provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
 4      schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
 5      laws relating thereto," in duties and powers of boards of
 6      school directors, further providing for publication of rules,
 7      regulations and policies; and, in pupils and attendance,
 8      further providing for home education program.
 9      The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
10   hereby enacts as follows:
11      Section 1.    Section 510.2(1)(xiii) of the act of March 10,
12   1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949,
13   is amended to read:
14      Section 510.2.     Publication of Rules, Regulations and
15   Policies.--The board of school directors of a school district
16   shall post on its publicly accessible Internet website the
17   following rules, regulations and policies to the extent that
18   they are required to be adopted by the school district under
19   Federal or State law:
20      (1)   The following relating to students:

 1      (xiii)   Participation by home school students in school
 2   district extracurricular activities, including Junior Reserve
 3   Officer Training Corps.
 4      * * *
 5      Section 2.   Section 1327.1 of the act is amended by adding
 6   subsections to read:
 7      Section 1327.1.     Home Education Program.--* * *
 8      (o)    Any parent who is a member or a spouse of a member of
 9   the armed forces of the United States who moves into a school
10   district or begins home instruction after the school year has
11   begun shall notify the school district of residence of his or
12   her intention to provide home instruction as soon as practicable
13   and comply with the requirements within thirty (30) days of the
14   notice.
15      (p)    Each school district of residence shall ensure that any
16   Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps program offered by any
17   branch of the armed forces of the United States in any school in
18   the local school division is open to any student who resides in
19   the school district in the attendance zone of the school,
20   receives home instruction or attends a private school and meets
21   all eligibility requirements for participation in the program.
22      Section 3.   This act shall take effect in 60 days.
