AN ACT
1 Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
2 act relating to the public school system, including certain
3 provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
4 schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
5 laws relating thereto," in duties and powers of boards of
6 school directors, further providing for State convention or
7 association, delegates, expenses and membership.
8 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
9 hereby enacts as follows:
10 Section 1. Section 516 of the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30,
11 No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, is amended to
12 read:
13 Section 516. State Convention or Association; Delegates;
14 Expenses; Membership.--The board of school directors or the
15 board of public education of any school district may appoint one
16 or more of its members, its non-member secretary, if any, and
17 its solicitor, if any, as delegates to any State convention or
18 association of school directors, held within the Commonwealth.
19 It shall be the duty of such delegates to attend the meetings of
20 such convention or association, and each delegate so attending
21 shall be reimbursed for travel, travel insurance, lodging,
1 meals, registration fees and other incidental expenses
2 necessarily incurred. Any such board may become a member of the
3 Pennsylvania School Boards Association, Inc., and may pay, out
4 of the school funds of the district, any membership dues which
5 may be assessed by the association at any State convention of
6 school directors to defray the necessary expenses of maintaining
7 the association and of holding the convention. Such expenses
8 shall be paid by the treasurer of the school district, in the
9 usual manner, out of the school funds of the district, upon the
10 presentation of an itemized, verified statement of such
11 expenses. The Pennsylvania School Boards Association shall be
12 considered a State-affiliated entity under the act of February
13 14, 2008 (P.L.6, No.3), known as the "Right-to-Know Law."
14 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
