AN ACT
1 Amending Title 1 (General Provisions) of the Pennsylvania
2 Consolidated Statutes, in rules of construction, further
3 providing for definitions.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Section 1991 of Title 1 of the Pennsylvania
7 Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a definition to read:
8 § 1991. Definitions.
9 The following words and phrases, when used in any statute
10 finally enacted on or after September 1, 1937, unless the
11 context clearly indicates otherwise, shall have the meanings
12 given to them in this section:

14 "Cremation." The technical process, using mechanical,
15 thermal or other dissolution process, including alkaline
16 hydrolysis, that reduces human remains to bone fragments. The
17 term includes the processing and pulverization of bone fragments
18 and the placement of the processed remains in a cremated remains
19 container.

2 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
