     REFERRED TO VETERANS AFFAIRS AND EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS,
        APRIL 11, 2025


                                      AN ACT
 1   Amending Title 35 (Health and Safety) of the Pennsylvania
 2      Consolidated Statutes, in emergency medical services system,
 3      further providing for injured police animals.
 4      The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
 5   hereby enacts as follows:
 6      Section 1.     Section 8158 of Title 35 of the Pennsylvania
 7   Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a subsection to read:
 8   § 8158.    Injured police animals.
 9      * * *
10      (b.1)    Communication centers.--Each communications center
11   dispatching EMS resources shall compile and maintain accurate
12   information regarding police animal care capabilities and any
13   other information deemed necessary by the communications center
14   dispatching EMS resources for the following to assist in the
15   timely transport and care of an injured police animal:
16             (1)   Veterinary clinics.
17             (2)   Hospital emergency departments.
1         (3)   Similar facilities.

3     Section 2.    This act shall take effect in 60 days.
