AN ACT
1 Amending Title 16 (Counties) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2 Statutes, in prothonotary, clerk of courts, clerk of orphans'
3 court, register of wills and recorder of deeds, further
4 providing for office holders.
5 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
6 hereby enacts as follows:
7 Section 1. Section 14102(a) of Title 16 of the Pennsylvania
8 Consolidated Statutes, added May 8, 2024 (P.L.50, No.14), is
9 amended and the section is amended by adding a subsection to
10 read:
11 § 14102. Office holders.
12 (a) Counties of the third and fourth classes.--[In] Except
13 as provided under subsection (d.1), in counties of the third and
14 fourth classes, one individual shall hold the office of
15 prothonotary, one individual shall hold the office of clerk of
16 courts, one individual shall hold the offices of register of
17 wills and clerk of orphans' court and one individual shall hold
18 the office of recorder of deeds.

1 (d.1) Counties of the fourth class.--Notwithstanding
2 subsection (a) or (b) or any other provision of law, in counties
3 of the fourth class, one individual may hold the offices of
4 prothonotary and clerk of courts.

6 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
