The proposal, scheduled for the fourth Friday of September, recently passed the Assembly Appropriations Committee with unanimous support. Supporters say the measure acknowledges the state’s historical treatment of Indigenous communities and builds on past efforts by Gavin Newsom to address California’s violent history toward Native Americans.
